I have been going through lots of issues and have had pretty bad insomnia. Lately (often but not every night) I will wake up in the midst of a dream and then doze off again and be confused as to whether or not I dreamed I was home, or am currently dreaming. Also in a recent dream (a scary one) I told the "bad guy" that "This dream is making me feel anxious and I would like to stop!" I immediately began a happier dream. How in the world did I talk to my dream? I have been suffering extreme anxiety/depression and have stopped taking lexapro (about 10 days ago). Anyways I just thought it was weird, if you have had a similar experience or know whats going on let me know! Thanks!

I've had similar experiences in the past where in a bad dream I can tell myself, this is just a dream, wake up now. Then I wake up. I don't know how I did it either, but you're not alone on this one. I would also like to know how this was possible.

You deserve a star on this question. =D

A big part of this is the insomnia. Most of my family suffers from insomnia, and my last bout lasted 31 days. The lack of sleep can cause you to lose sight of the line differentiating between reality and fantasy. This is made worse by having very vivid dreams during the insomnia. I'm not sure, as I've never taken anxiety/depression meds like lexapro, zoloft, etc., but those may be complicating this, especially if you're recently on, or have recently stopped taking one.

    http://www.lucidity.com and
http://www.dreamviews.com help explain the "talk to your dream" experience.
"The Master of Lucid Dreams," Kharitidi, M.D.,
    "Dreams," Barrick, Ph.D., and
"Watch Your Dreams," Colton, are also good.
"The Great Divorce," C. S. Lewis, is relevant and excellent reading.
